Mexico again: Alejandra Carbajal, the photographic dimension
Alejandra Carbajal is a multifaceted artist that I had the pleasure of meeting in the EFTI network: http://efti.org/es/usuarios/alejandra-carbajal-rodriguez
Alexandra is studying at the University of the Arts in Aguascalientes (Mexico) and she is therefore exploring different ways of making art in this post I am going to show the dimension as a photographer. Alejandra combines all the previous with her other great passion: dance that exercises with perseverance but always with a joy that does not weigh necessary sacrifices.
I would define Alejandra a conceptual artist in the sense that behind her works, there’s a deep thought that digs primarily itself but also in socially important issues around the woman. Despite this, their images, often very focused on the body, are almost ethereal, looking for lightness, flee the darkness because the light is used like a lighthouse to focus on the essential, the important, the way forward. Widely used self-portrait and it always betrays a deep acceptance of yourself and also the need to explore the limits that, in the case of Alexandra I still have not understood what they are.
